It's the little things...

"The pursuit of art on a regular basis may be the key to healing our minds and bodies."

It has been researched and proven that art heals the body. I've always really believed this, and felt it when I got lost in a photograph or listened to music or walked around my favorite museums, etc. So when I decided to take a semester full of art classes I knew it would be healing for me, especially with what has been going on lately.

So, on the inside I am healing and it is a wonderful outlet for me. However, when you're molding and sculpting clay, sketching with coal and lead, feeling fabric textures and different types of wood, writing constantly and working with such potent materials like wood, clay, coal and other mediums of art at least 5 days a week, it takes a toll on your hands. Aka, your hands smell gross all of the time. This clay we're using is just rank. I don't know what it is, but it leaves a film of disgusting-ness on your hands that no soap can endure. I was annoyingly washing my hands on the way to my next class when I noticed a new soap dispenser in the back corner of the girl's bathroom in this new bathroom I found in the GT building. Hoping this box of soap held every miracle of restoring my natural skin scent, I decided to try it. Out came a choir of angels singing in the form of liquid. It was a pretty green color with beads of exfoliator in it, and smelled like a bouquet of amazing flowers. I washed my hands and the film of gunk was gone! My hands were so soft! They smelled like heaven!

Not only does it fulfill my needs by cleaning my hands, but my hands are softer than ever! I guess art really does heal the mind and body.

There in the back corner of the GT building, in the bathroom that sits alone all day not being used, an art student made the best discovery in months. Miracles do happen people. Just hold my hand and you will see.

Thanks UVU. Thanks Studio Art faculty. Thanks janitorial staff that refills soap dispensers. Thanks soap company that puts tiny miracles in bathrooms all over America. Thanks life for the little things that put a smile on my face.

Problem solved.
